My Role

My role within the show was the producer. This involved organising all of the interviews, maintaining contact with the interviewees, and creating alot of the physical material, such as the running order and script. It was also my role to coordinate the rest of the team when it came to broadcasting the live show

I admit that there were many things that I could have improved upon when it came to the creation of the show. The main ones are as follows.

  • Although the show we created was of a decent standard, we only began planning it three weeks in advance of the broadcast date. This left us with very little time to  gather interviewees and content.
  • Some of the editing was sub-par. In some places, especially the vox’s, the audio level had a tendency to fluctuate, and there was often background noise.
  • When it came to the live show, I wasn’t relaxed at all, and this filtered through to the rest of the team, leading to the occasional mistake.

Overall however, one of the major points of the show was that we were a very close team by the point of broadcast. This enabled us to work cohesively as a team and overcome any issues. and I think that in the end, once everyone had become more relaxed, we were able to complete the show to a decent standard.

The experience of producing a live show has given me a number of skills which I was then able to take away to other projects. These included teamwork skills, public relation skills and organisational skills.
